Night has swallowed the ruins. Collect every gold coin on each floor to descend deeper — they bank into your purse, and between floors the Gloam Bazaar sells upgrades: healing, extra heart vessels, swift boots, and star charges. The dark wisps drift without mercy, eyes smoldering, and the ruins themselves are falling apart: debris rains from above and the very tiles crumble and shift beneath you, and some hide impaling spikes or churn with quicksand that drags you under if you linger — watch for red flashes, telltale holes, and swirling mud. Either one costs you a heart. A lost fairy named Pip sometimes waits in the ruins — befriend her and she'll fetch coins and shoo away wisps that get too close. Grab a prism star on the floor for free invincibility, and keep an eye out for the rare black hole — touch it and every wisp is consumed as the floor plunges into the shadow realm. Lose every heart and the gloam keeps you, coins and all.
The wisps carry you back to the surface. The ruins reset, patient as ever.
